JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the company’s objectives in the global commodities market.
  • Proactively identify, assess and pursue new trading and commercial opportunities across target commodities and regions.
  • Utilise and expand your existing network of clients, suppliers, traders and strategic partners to contribute business expansion.
  • Build, manage and deepen long-term relationships with key clients, securing new business and ensuring retention and satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and geopolitical developments to inform business decisions and mitigate risk.
  • Work closely with supply chain, operations and finance to ensure seamless trade execution and business alignment.
  • Contribute to the profitability of the business unit by delivering on revenue, margin, and volume targets, as well as goals set by the Company.
  • Oversee or support complex commercial contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and full compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure all trading and business development activities are in line with regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance and/or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in physical commodity trading with proven business development success.
  • Must bring an established network of suppliers, customers or trading partners. Ability to onboard immediate business is a major plus.
  • Business development, commercial strategy or trading within the commodities sector.
  • Proven track record of identifying, securing and scaling trading or commercial opportunities in regional or global markets.
  • Established network of industry contacts across suppliers, clients and trading partners.
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets, supply chains and pricing mechanisms.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and analytical abilities. High integrity and adaptability in a fast-paced and global environment.
  • Able to speak/write in English and Mandarin (as need to liaise with clients from China counterpart who speak/write in Mandarin).
