Description Position Overview The Business Development Director will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and advancing federal business opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic growth objectives. This role will work closely with executive leadership, technical teams, and proposal staff to build and manage a strong, actionable opportunity pipeline. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in federal business development, strong customer engagement skills, and a disciplined approach to pipeline management and capture support. Key Responsibilities Pipeline & Strategy Management Own and maintain the company’s opportunity pipeline, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and visibility Collaborate with executive leadership to drive and refine overall Business Development strategy Lead and facilitate weekly Business Development pipeline review meetings, ensuring all opportunities are discussed, actioned, and tracked Capture Support & Competitive Analysis Lead or support Bid / No-Bid analyses in coordination with leadership and proposal teams Conduct incumbent and competitive analysis, including contract history, competitors, pricing posture, and recompete strategy Gather and document customer requirements, mission needs, and buying behaviors Develop and maintain win themes, discriminators, and value propositions for priority pursuits Teaming & Partner Engagement Identify, establish, and manage teaming relationships with primes, subcontractors, and technology partners Support teaming strategy development, including partner selection and relationship management Opportunity Identification & Qualification Monitor federal procurement platforms to identify active and upcoming opportunities Proactively notify leadership of relevant opportunities with clear, concise summaries including scope, customer, vehicle, timing, and competitive factors Conduct opportunity shaping and qualification activities to improve win probability Customer Engagement & Marketing Engage with current and prospective federal customers to build relationships and increase opportunity quality Attend and represent the company at industry days, conferences, and marketing events to improve visibility and expand the company’s footprint Process Improvement Continuously document, maintain, and improve Business Development policies, procedures, and best practices to support scalable growth Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience 5+ years of experience in federal business development, capture, or related roles Demonstrated experience identifying and qualifying federal contract opportunities Strong understanding of the federal acquisition lifecycle and procurement process Experience working with federal BD tools such as GovWin, SAM.gov, GSA eBuy, or similar platforms Proven ability to collaborate with executives, technical teams, and proposal staff Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting small businesses, including 8(a), SDVOSB, HUBZone, or other set-aside environments Familiarity with common federal contract vehicles (GWACs, IDIQs, BPAs, etc.) Prior experience supporting IT, cybersecurity, cloud, or professional services contracts Existing relationships within civilian or defense federal agencies Active or prior federal clearance (or ability to obtain one)
