Overview Energy is turning uninterrupted sunlight in space into directable energy on Earth. From our homebase in Virginia, we’re building satellites that will deliver energy from orbit to the grid and make solar a reliable 24/7 resource. The Role Overview Energy is seeking a summer Business Development Intern who will work with our Chief Commercial Officer and General Counsel to accelerate the commercialization of our technology. This role is paid and requires a commitment of 10 weeks over the summer. This role is open to candidates who are currently working towards a graduate degree in business administration or policy. Responsibilities: Identifying and prioritizing prospective partners. Establishing new relationships with partners and other key stakeholders. Support fundraising efforts. Crafting grant and other non-dilutive funding strategy. Creating techno-economic and project financing analysis for partners, investors, and other stakeholders. Contribute to the technology development by understanding customer needs and communicating with R&D and engineering teams. Requirements: Pursuing an MBA, MPA/MPP, or another relevant graduate degree. 3+ years of professional experience with energy, space, finance, consulting, or another relevant field. Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and analyze complex technical concepts. Proven skill set for: business development; fundraising; financial modeling; or in-depth analysis of energy policy, regulation, and commercial structures. Nice to have experience: Experience with startups or venture capital, preferably in tough tech / hardware. Experience with renewable energy development, offtake agreements, and/or project finance. Experience with space and/or government business development. Experience with grant programs, funding processes, and grant writing. Working knowledge of computer scripting or data science languages and methods (e.g., Python).
