BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT LEAD Location: New York City (Hybrid) Type: Full-time Firm Overview We are an operator-oriented investment platform focused on acquiring and scaling lower-middle-market businesses through control investments. We are long-term oriented and partner closely with management teams to drive operational improvement and durable value creation. The firm is currently investing its first institutional fund, with approximately $300 million of committed capital, focused on control-oriented private equity investments across targeted sectors. Role Description The Business Development Lead will be responsible for building and managing the firm’s proprietary sourcing engine. This role will play a critical part in shaping the firm’s long-term sourcing strategy and external relationships as investment activity scales. The role will require close coordination with the investment team and ownership of key intermediary and advisor relationships to ensure sourcing efforts remain aligned with the firm’s underwriting standards and sector focus. Key Responsibilities for this position include: Developing and managing relationships with business owners, brokers, advisors, and referral sources to generate consistent deal flow Driving a structured outreach program across target sectors and geographies, including maintaining cadence and follow-up discipline Owning and maintaining CRM data hygiene, pipeline tracking, and sourcing analytics (activity, conversion, funnel metrics) Partnering with the investment team to qualify opportunities, prioritize leads, and advance high-quality prospects Coordinating introductory calls and meetings; preparing leadership with relevant background and context Representing the firm in meetings, conferences, and industry events; supporting the firm’s external positioning Supporting development of outreach materials and messaging (firm overview, buyer profile, sector theses) Coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely responsiveness to intermediaries and business owners Assisting with special projects and internal ad hoc requests related to sourcing strategy and pipeline development Qualifications: 4+ years of experience in business development, investment sourcing, private equity, investment banking, brokerage, or related fields Demonstrated ability to build relationships and drive outcomes through persistent, thoughtful outreach Strong organizational skills with comfort operating high-volume pipelines and tracking activity rigorously Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional presence with external stakeholders Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and manage ambiguity Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; CRM familiarity preferred The duties and responsibilities described here are not exhaustive and additional assignments, duties, or responsibilities may be required of this position. Expected annual base salary range: $130,000 - $200,000 Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location.
