About the Role We are looking to appoint a target-driven Business Development Lead with a proven track record of securing new business and cultivating strong employer relationships across apprenticeships and adult skills provision. You will be a confident and strategic sales professional, skilled at identifying opportunities, building lasting partnerships, and delivering measurable results in a fast-paced, performance-focused environment. You’ll be joining a forward-thinking Business Engagement Directorate within a college that’s committed to transforming lives through education and skills. Our Business Development team plays a vital role in connecting employers with high-quality training solutions, supporting workforce development across the region. With a strong focus on innovation, collaboration, and excellence, we’re proud to be shaping the future of skills provision. Key Responsibilities Lead on employer engagement and generate new business across apprenticeships, adult skills, and commercial training. Develop strong relationships with employers to support repeat business and long-term partnerships. Collaborate with internal teams to forecast demand and align delivery with employer needs. Ensure compliance with ESFA funding rules, DAS processes, and internal quality frameworks. Represent the college at networking events, careers fairs, and industry forums. Provide accurate reporting and insights to support strategic decision-making. What We’re Looking For Proven experience in business development, sales, and employer engagement within the FE or skills sector. In-depth knowledge of apprenticeship funding, DAS, and employer incentive schemes. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet ambitious targets. A full UK driving licence and access to transport, as regular travel to employer premises is required to support engagement and business development activities.
