Job Title: Business Development Manager – Acquiring Overview: As a key member of the Digital Partnerships team at Mastercard Spain, the Business Development Manager in Acquiring, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of payment solutions across the Spanish market. This position is responsible for driving Mastercard’s acquiring revenues, strengthening partner brand preference, and spearheading the development and execution of innovative growth opportunities. You will serve as a trusted advisor to all participants in the value chain of acquiring and payment acceptance, with a focus on both established and high-potential partners actively operating or expanding within Spain. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and nurture strategic business relationships with primary domestic and central acquirers, as well as major ISVs, PSPs, Payfacs, Orchestrators, and influential partners in specialized verticals. • Drive the identification, development, and implementation of cutting-edge business development solutions to expand Mastercard’s acceptance footprint, including new verticals and emerging technologies. • Oversee and enhance account management activities, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members, and ensuring alignment with Mastercard’s broader Acceptance strategy under the direction of the Acceptance Lead. • Develop, review, and present high-impact sales documentation, business performance analyses, and strategic reports for both internal and external stakeholders. • Act as the primary liaison between Mastercard Spain and key internal stakeholders across Europe, managing complex acquiring-related queries and cross-functional initiatives of financial, business, and operational significance. • Lead engagements with a diverse portfolio of counterparts, including acquirers, PSPs, processors, terminal vendors, and other ecosystem participants. • Design and deliver robust execution plans to accelerate and diversify Mastercard acceptance across Spain, leveraging market insights and anticipating secular shifts in payment behavior. About You: • Demonstrated expertise in business development, strategic relationship management, and the acquiring/payments ecosystem, ideally with experience at the senior management level. • Exceptional problem-solving skills, advanced analytics, and a commercial mindset, with a proven ability to deliver results in dynamic and fast-paced environments. • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in both Spanish and English (written and oral), with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels. • Collaborative leader and team player, adept at fostering a high-performance culture and nurturing talent. • Keen customer focus, with the ability to translate deep understanding of client needs into actionable business opportunities and tailored solutions. • Strong operational acumen, attention to detail, and a passion for excellence in execution. • Innovative, proactive, and adaptable, with the drive to anticipate industry trends and position Mastercard as the partner of choice in Spain’s evolving payments landscape.
