A forward-thinking and rapidly growing company based in Manston, Kent is seeking a Business Development Manager to support its expansion across the South East and beyond. This role is ideal for a commercially astute and motivated individual who thrives on driving new business opportunities and playing a strategic role in the preparation and support of tender submissions.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a business development or sales role, ideally within the energy, construction, or facilities management sectors
  • Solid understanding of public and private sector tendering processes
  • Experience in contributing to or leading successful bid submissions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Commercially minded with strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
  • Highly organised, with excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; CRM system experience is advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business prospects, nurturing client relationships, and managing the sales process from first contact to conversion. A significant part of this role will involve supporting competitive tender submissions, ensuring proposals are accurate, timely, and aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across both public and private sector markets
  • Build and sustain strong, long-term relationships with prospective and existing clients
  • Research upcoming tenders, frameworks, and funding opportunities relevant to the industry
  • Support the preparation and submission of high-quality tender documents, including PQQs, RFPs, and ITTs
  • Collaborate with internal departments (technical, operations, finance) to compile compelling and compliant bids
  • Ensure all tender submissions meet deadlines and client specifications
  • Represent the company at industry events, meetings, and client presentations
  • Achieve agreed sales targets and report progress regularly to senior leadership
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline, and tender outcomes using CRM tools
