Description

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

My client is a well-established international software company with a long history of delivering leading solutions to the energy sector globally. For the past eight years, their New Zealand operation has been instrumental in assisting market participants with data management, asset optimization, and navigating a rapidly changing industry. The diverse local team operates with the agility of a start-up while benefiting from close collaboration with its European headquarters.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

My client is expanding and seeking a proactive Key Account & Business Development Manager to strengthen relationships with existing clients and grow their market presence both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Act as the primary contact for key accounts within the energy sector, understanding their goals and anticipating future needs.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities that align with the client’s strategic objectives.
  • Shape and execute account plans, coordinating with technical, project, and finance teams to deliver value and achieve revenue targets.
  • Provide early-stage project oversight, including scoping requirements, setting timelines, and aligning budgets.
  • Translate market insights into product development feedback to ensure solutions remain at the forefront of industry trends.
  • Serve as the crucial link between customers and the development, delivery, and support teams, ensuring clear communication and capturing opportunities to add value.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Relationship Management: Build and nurture long-term partnerships with existing clients.
Business Development: Prospect, network, and convert new leads in New Zealand and international markets.
Strategic Planning: Create and own account plans, annual targets, and growth initiatives.
Commercial Negotiations: Collaborate with internal stakeholders (COO, CFO, and project managers) to craft proposals, statements of work, budgets, and contracts.
Market Intelligence: Monitor energy-market developments, competitor activity, and technology trends to inform strategy.
Performance Tracking: Analyse sales data and pipeline health, reporting insights and improvement actions.
