JOB SUMMARY

Scott Builders Inc. is looking for a driven and growth-minded Business Development Manager to lead the charge in identifying and securing new commercial construction opportunities across emerging and existing markets for our Calgary branch. If you understand the construction process and are energized by prospecting, building relationships, and turning leads into deals, you may be exactly who we need.
As a trusted advisor with a strong network and deep understanding of the construction process, you will be actively prospecting and developing new client relationships that will result in real work. Working collaboratively with the Leadership, Business Development & Pre-Construction Teams, this position will identify, pursue, and win new business essential to our organizational growth within new and current markets.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in:

  • Prospecting new clients and market segments through research, networking, and outbound activity
  • Developing strategic partnerships with real estate developers, architects, engineers, and municipalities
  • Acting as a credible construction expert to guide clients through pre-construction conversations
  • Tracking market trends, leads, and opportunities to keep our pipeline strong
  • Creating compelling proposals and supporting complex RFP responses
  • Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth project handoffs and strong client experiences

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in the field of construction (equivalent commercial construction experience and education may be considered)
  • 5+ years of technical experience in commercial construction, estimating and/or project management
  • 8+ years in business development or client-facing roles within construction, real estate or land development.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of various construction delivery methods (Design-Build, Bid-Build, and Construction Management
  • Understanding of pre-construction process including sales, design, estimating and closing a definite asset
  • Experience creating proposals and managing complex RFP (Request for Proposal) submissions
  • Established network in Western Canada including developers, architects and municipal leaders
  • Professional industry credentials would be a strong asset
  • Skilled in CRM tools, pipeline management, and relationship tracking
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with sales and operations teams
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate at all levels is essential
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
