Description

Company Overview:
We are a growing logistics carrier company with 50 trucks and trailers (dry vans), offering solo
and team driver services, as well as our own warehousing and 3PL capabilities. Our goal is to
cut out the middleman and secure direct contracts with shippers, major retailers, and
government agencies. We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a
proven track record of bringing in direct freight opportunities.
Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for securing direct freight contracts,
building long-term client relationships, and expanding our service portfolio. The ideal candidate
will already have a book of business or proven industry contacts, with experience in government
contracting and large-scale private sector agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, pursue, and secure direct contracts with major shippers, retailers, and

manufacturers (e.g., Target, Walmart, FedEx).

  • Develop and execute strategies to increase direct freight opportunities and reduce

dependency on brokerage companies.

  • Leverage existing industry connections to bring immediate business opportunities.
  • Research and cold call potential customers to establish new partnerships.
  • Navigate and manage the government contracting process, including registrations, bid

submissions, and compliance requirements.

  • Explore and secure contracts for warehouse services and 3PL opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and customer

satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth onboarding of new accounts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience securing direct freight contracts in the trucking and logistics industry.
  • Existing book of business or portfolio of past direct contract wins preferred.
  • Experience with government contracting, including SAM registration, bid processes, and

compliance.

  • Strong sales skills with the ability to cold call, prospect, and close deals.
  • Familiarity with large shipper and retailer contract requirements.
  • Knowledge of warehouse/3PL sales is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
