Description:

Drake International is currently looking for a Business Development Manager with experience in a growing construction industry.
Our client specializes in offering the best service to their customers and services throughout Atlantic Canada and is looking to expand their team.
As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating sales, pricing, inventory checking and expediting, data entry and order processing and providing exceptional customer service to all clients. You will work very closely with the finance department. Our ideal candidates will have previous experience in sales with a proven track record, of generating leads within the construction industry. You must be confident in and have the ability to work closely with Customers.
Job Summary: The Business Development Manager is a key member of the team providing direction and support to the organization. The Manager will be responsible to ensure that the company secures work that is both profitable and in line with key business targets. The Manager has a key responsibility to lead the overall budgets, business development, and overall client satisfaction.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Requirements

  • Engineering degree or Engineering technology diploma is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction estimation, project management or similar type role. Prior management experience would be considered an asset.
  • General Contractor experience would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry best practices, relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
  • Expert in current market conditions in the Maritimes including labour workforce and capacities. • Experience in sales negotiations with trades and suppliers is required.
  • Experience and ability to use CRM software, Microsoft project, etc.
  • Bilingual would be considered an asset but not required (French and English). Key Skills / Accountabilities
  • Ability to make critical decisions quickly, works well under pressure and in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budget.
  • Ability to lead, coach and influence direct and in-direct reports.
  • Ability to motivate employees to perform at their best.
  • High attention to detail and strong financial acumen.
  • Communicate clearly and comprehensively in person, one-on-one, or in groups, and written

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the short-term and long-term strategic planning with other members of senior leadership team. Assists the team to establish clear, timely, cost effective plans to ensure successful execution.
  • Ensure departmental alignment with overall company strategy, mission, and goals. Set and monitor departmental and individual goals and KPI’s on a quarterly basis.
  • Clearly display and communicate upcoming work and future forecast to leadership team, President and CEO.
  • Monitor market trends (residential, industrial, commercial, etc.) and strategize where you should focus efforts to reach financial goals and objectives.
  • Ensure client expectations are met by team while managing team’s workload.
  • Ensure all staff wages are both competitive and profitable.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with consultants, sub-contractors, suppliers, trades, business owners.
  • Work closely with estimating and accounting department to identify needs, establish goals and forecast.
  • Develop and maintain network and business relationships.
  • Maintain continues contact with current and past clients, manage customer relations and report/address findings/challenges.
  • Preparation of proposal material & submission
  • Support client with land/building location and acquisition, identify red flags or roadblocks (building conditions, variances, zoning), preliminary pricing and provide input and support.

Working Conditions: Standard clerical settings such as the use of a computer and sitting for extended periods.
Business hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.
Will be required to visit potential clients, leads and network. Make site visits from time to time.
