Business Development Manager

Gold Coast Preferred | Field-Based Role with Regional Travel

South East Queensland, Northern NSW & Far North Queensland

About Dunlop Tyre Australia

Dunlop is one of the world's most recognised tyre brands and forms part of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, a global tyre manufacturer with a proud heritage of innovation, quality and performance.

Together with Falken, including the highly regarded Wildpeak range, we offer customers trusted brands supported by world-class technology, strong OEM heritage and a commitment to helping our partners grow their businesses.

As we continue to strengthen our presence across Queensland and Northern NSW, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to join our team.

About the Role

We are looking for someone who enjoys building trust, communicating effectively and taking ownership of outcomes.

This is an opportunity to manage an established territory spanning South East Queensland, Northern NSW and Far North Queensland, working closely with customers to support their businesses, identify opportunities and drive sustainable growth.

A significant proportion of the territory's sales come from long-term customer relationships, making customer engagement, responsiveness and account development critical to success.

This role offers high accountability with high autonomy. You'll be trusted to plan and manage your territory, customer relationships and travel commitments while working closely with Sales Management and internal departments to support customer outcomes and business growth.

The role is primarily field-based and requires a high level of self-management, territory planning and customer engagement. You'll become the local face of the Dunlop and Falken brands throughout the region.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Building trusted relationships with customers across your territory
  • Growing programme participation, increasing in-house share and identifying new business opportunities
  • Understanding customer challenges, local market conditions and growth opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining structured territory and travel plans
  • Reviewing sales performance, customer activity and growth opportunities using company reporting tools and Microsoft Excel
  • Conducting customer reviews, business planning discussions and training on Dunlop and Falken products, programmes and promotions
  • Conducting tyre inspections and discussing wear patterns, fitment and application suitability
  • Monitoring competitor activity, market trends and customer feedback
  • Providing market intelligence and customer insights to the wider business
  • Managing customer expectations and following through on commitments
  • Representing the Dunlop and Falken brands professionally at all times

Territory & Travel Requirements

This territory includes:

  • Gold Coast (preferred residential location)
  • Logan
  • Bayside Brisbane
  • Warwick & Stanthorpe
  • Northern NSW / Northern Rivers
  • Far North Queensland

A significant proportion of the territory's customer base is located within the greater Gold Coast region. As a result, applicants should ideally be based on or near the Gold Coast.

This is a field-based role and regular travel is a requirement, including:

  • Approximately one week per month in Northern NSW / Northern Rivers
  • Approximately one week in Far North Queensland every second month
  • Regular overnight travel throughout the territory

Our Queensland office is located in Berrinba, with office attendance expected approximately 4-5 days per month for meetings, planning and collaboration with internal teams.

The majority of your time will be spent in the field working directly with customers.

Who We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Tyre industry or automotive aftermarket experience
  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence
  • Proven experience managing customer expectations in a B2B and/or B2C environment
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and computer literacy skills
  • Confidence using Microsoft Teams and digital communication platforms
  • Strong planning, organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities

The Right Person Will Be

  • Friendly, genuine and approachable
  • Positive, resilient and solutions-focused
  • Calm and professional when challenges arise
  • Compassionate and understanding when working through customer concerns
  • Comfortable having direct and honest conversations
  • Highly organised with exceptional follow-through
  • A strong communicator who keeps customers and colleagues informed
  • Someone who understands that long-term success is built on relationships, trust and service, not just sales figures
