Job Title: Business Development Manager
Level: Senior level/Leadership sales role
Responsible to: Managing Director & Senior Management Team
Salary: £35,000 to £42,000 DOE gross plus commission & signing bonus
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm plus out of hours rota shared between 2/3 sales team weekdays 5-7pm, weekends 10am – 8pm.

JOB SUMMARY

An experienced senior sales professional responsible for providing expert advice and services to prospective clients through to secured sales, identifying and developing new business opportunities, providing technical expertise and support to the assisting Business Development Representative/s during the sales process, leading and managing the assisting Business Development Representative/s against SMART KPI’s, managing sales performance, assisting the Managing Director & Sales Mentor to develop and implement evolving sales strategies, reporting overall sales strategy and performance to the Managing Director & Senior Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications in sales management or related fields (preferable not essential if you have strong, proven experience in this role).
  • Qualified Solicitor with at least 3 years’ PQE (preferably Criminal Law, preferable not essential).
  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Law, or a related field (preferable not essential).
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the shared first point of contact for potential clients.
  • Conduct initial consultations to understand the prospective clients’ needs and collect in-depth information about the matters for which they are seeking the firm’s help.
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of the firm’s services and differentiate us from competitors.
  • Quote fees for engagement using the firm’s upfront agreed fee structure and where appropriate, taking payments over the phone and/or promptly instructing support staff to issue invoices for bank transfer payments.
  • Quote bespoke fee arrangements for complex matters.
  • Providing basic legal advice to clients regarding their rights, potential defences, and the legal implications of their situation (training will be provided).
  • Utilising various tools and sales techniques to follow up on potential sales including phone calls, texts, emails, scheduling Calendly appointments, Teams calls, adding suitable enquiries to active marketing campaigns.
  • Facilitate seamless communication between clients and internal teams, including support staff, solicitors and management, providing handovers following secured sales.
  • Work with the Managing Director to assess merits of potential client services.
  • Assist with creating compelling marketing materials in partnership with the Managing Director and marketing team that highlight the firm’s expertise and competitive advantages.
  • Assist with brand building and responding to prospective client enquiries via social media and websites.
  • Follow firm procedures and policies surrounding new enquiries and marketing the firm.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics and competitor activities to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management on potential market segments, client needs and competitive strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales performance and activities, client interactions and revenue metrics using CRM system. Generate regular reports to evaluate sales performance, track progress against targets and identify areas for improvement.
  • Flexibility to support issues that may occur out of hours on a rotational basis and organising the rota between Business Development personnel in advance.
  • Leading and managing Business Development Representatives in line with SMART KPI’s.
  • Supporting the Sales Mentor with technical coaching and support to the Business Development Representative/s listening to call recordings and overseeing sales follow up, providing tailored feedback and performance improvement plans where appropriate.
  • Supporting the Managing Director & Sales Mentor with delivering sales training to Business Development Representative/s.
  • Assisting the Senior Management Team with recruitment of Business Development Representative/s where appropriate.
  • Uphold the ethical standards of the legal profession, maintain client confidentiality, act in the best interests of clients, and adhere to the professional rules and codes of conduct.
    Key Performance Indicators
    Your SMART KPIs will be discussed and agreed with you on a one-to-one basis. You will have regular one-to-one meetings with your line manager to review your performance against these objectives and identify any areas for development and/or required support.
