Business Development Manager, Global Investment Funds
Are you ready to make your mark as part of our Business Development Team? Then you’ve come to the right place. At White & Case, we’ll support you, give you responsibility and welcome you as an integral member of our diverse, international team from day one.
Working within the Global M&A Practice, this role supports the Global Investment Funds Group in developing and implementing strategic and business development initiatives. The goal is to build client relationships, identify new business opportunities, secure new work, and position the Firm as a leading global Investment Funds team.
Our Global Investment Funds Group has experienced significant growth over the past year. We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven business development professional to assist our partners in continuing this growth, and support our strategic and business development initiatives. The global team now has 13 partners, 3 counsel and nearly 20 associates across 8 offices in all 3 regions. The Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in coordinating global opportunities and ensuring consistent BD messaging across all client initiatives.
Although the role is based in London, this is a global role, ensuring that business development activities and initiatives are developed and coordinated across our global network.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject with a relevant marketing qualification (e.g. CIM) being desirable but not essential
  • 2-3 years’ of relevant business development/communications experience within a law firm or professional services organisation, with prior experience in transactional practices being preferable
  • Commercially minded with a desire for a high level of business acumen and a client-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail balanced by a big picture vision and a proven ability to work to tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects, and deliver under pressure
  • Passion for working in an international environment and within a global team, being pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work both in a team and individually as required
  • Excellent communicator both orally and in writing with a diplomatic approach, impactful and assertive with the ability to operate successfully at all levels
  • Good systems and database skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM applications
  • Creative mindset with the ability to bring new ideas to the table and a strong team player with a high performing team ethos
  • Seasoned project manager with well-developed planning and organisation skills
Responsibilities
  • Supporting global strategic planning and implementation, ensuring effective coordination across related practice and industry business plans
  • Enhancing business generation from firm clients and maximising opportunities through a cross-practice, cross-office approach
  • Delivering marketing and business opportunities with existing and new clients, enhancing the group’s image and reputation
  • Working with global investment funds partners, associates, and business development teams to drive the global investment funds business plan and key initiatives
  • Leading all marketing and business development initiatives for the global Investment Funds Group
  • Coordinating tracking progress and reporting on the group’s clients
  • Collaborating with the global business development team and central marketing team on communications and thought leadership, creating a targeted strategy to raise the group’s profile
  • Sharing information and building relationships with marketing and business development colleagues throughout the Firm’s network for an integrated global offering
  • Staying updated on current and emerging issues/trends in the funds market and adapting strategies accordingly
  • Providing day-to-day business development and marketing support, including pitches, capability statements, maintaining marketing infrastructure, and ensuring effective use of communication channels like the website, e-bulletins, mailing lists, media relations, sponsorship, conferences, research, and industry networks
