Job Description We’re looking for a passionate and driven Business Development Manager – Golf & Sporting Groups to join our high-performing team at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, home to one of Australia’s most iconic golf courses. This is a unique opportunity for someone who lives and breathes golf to combine their love for the game with strategic sales and business development. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in identifying new opportunities, driving revenue growth, and positioning Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and Elysia Wellness Retreat as a premier destination for golf and sporting group experiences. As a key member of our team, you’ll take the lead in developing and managing client relationships, executing innovative sales strategies, and representing both Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and Elysia Wellness Retreat within the golf and sporting industries. With a strong focus on proactive outreach, strategic partnerships, and long-term account management, you’ll help shape the future of sporting tourism at two of the most prestigious properties in the Hunter Valley. Key Responsibilities Include: Develop and implement targeted sales strategies to grow the Golf & Sporting Groups segment across markets, with a focus on increasing group bookings and revenue at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and Elysia Wellness Retreat. Identify, manage, and nurture key accounts within the golf, sports club, school, and leisure travel sectors, fostering long-term partnerships and repeat business. Drive proactive business development through outbound sales activity, lead generation, tailored proposals, and on-site client engagement. Work closely with resort operations, events, and revenue teams to optimise group occupancy, maximise yield, and ensure seamless guest experiences. Represent Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and Elysia Wellness Retreat at golf tournaments, industry trade shows, and networking events to build brand visibility and convert high-value leads. Maintain accurate CRM records, track pipeline activity, and report on sales performance metrics including conversion rates and revenue targets. Conduct regular site inspections and client meetings to strengthen relationships and ensure alignment with client expectations and service delivery standards. Collaborate with event partners and vendors to support logistics, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the successful execution of group stays and sporting events. Partner with Marketing and relevant Tourism and Sporting Organisations to create co-branded campaigns and destination marketing initiatives that drive group demand. Qualifications To be successful in this role you will require the following skills, experience and qualifications: 3–5 years of relevant experience in a sales role within the golf industry, with a strong grasp of market trends, customer expectations, and the unique dynamics of golf tourism. Proven track record of sales success, including measurable achievements in revenue growth, client acquisition, and business development—ideally within a golf-related context. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and effectively present products or services tailored to golf enthusiasts and partners. Meticulous attention to detail and excellent time management, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess situations, develop practical solutions, and implement improvements proactively. Collaborative team experience, demonstrating the ability to contribute to group objectives and align efforts with broader business strategies. Professional presentation and a strong work ethic, representing the brand with integrity, enthusiasm, and an authentic appreciation for the game of golf.
