We specialize in dry soluble and liquid fertilizers, alongside IPM, tissue culture, and propagation products. Our ISO9001-certified operations emphasize in-house manufacturing in Sacramento. We are evolving into a technology-driven leader in manufacturing, distribution, multi-brand, and multi-channel management, integrating AI, automation, and customer-facing tools to enhance grower efficiency and supply chain automation. Job Overview: Athena is seeking a dynamic HOCl Business Development Manager to lead our strategic entry into the hypochlorous acid (HOCl) market with a primary focus on livestock applications (e.g., biosecurity, wound care, water treatment, and facility sanitation) and expansion into related sectors like agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, food processing, and water treatment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive sales leader with expertise in chemical disinfectants or agribusiness, capable of building partnerships, identifying opportunities, and driving sales growth in a niche, high-potential market. This individual will play a pivotal role in positioning Athena as a leader in non-toxic, residue-free solutions for biosecurity and pathogen control. Responsibilities Market Entry & Revenue Diversification (40%): Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy for HOCl products, targeting livestock (e.g., dairy, poultry, swine, beef for biosecurity against pathogens like avian flu) and adjacent markets (e.g., crop protection, greenhouse sanitation, aquaculture, food safety). Identify new revenue streams, such as on-site generators, bulk solutions, or partnerships with ag cooperatives, toll blenders, and retailers. Sales & Business Development (30%): Proactively prospect and qualify leads in HOCl applications; pursue new accounts (e.g., farms, veterinary suppliers, ag chemical dealers) while nurturing existing relationships. Achieve sales targets through consultative selling, demonstrating HOCl's benefits (e.g., eco-friendly alternative Partnerships & Strategy (20%): Build strategic alliances with suppliers, distributors, and key stakeholders (e.g., EPA/USDA compliance experts). Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, operations, marketing) to customize HOCl offerings for livestock wound care, drinking water treatment, or facility deodorization. Attend trade shows (e.g., World Ag Expo, IPPE for poultry) to generate opportunities. Reporting & Analysis (10%): Track sales pipelines using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce); provide weekly/monthly reports on activity, forecasts, and market insights. Monitor competitors and regulatory trends (e.g., EPA approvals for HOCl in ag). Ensure pricing strategies align with profit goals. Qualifications Experience: 5+ years in sales/business development within agriculture, chemicals, disinfectants, or livestock/animal health industries. Proven track record in B2B sales (e.g., selling biocides, feed additives, or crop protection products to farms, co-ops, or manufacturers). Experience with HOCl or similar oxidants (e.g., adjuvants, bactericides, fungicides) is highly desirable; familiarity with livestock biosecurity or sustainable ag practices essential. Skills: Strong sales acumen: Prospecting, negotiation, closing deals; ability to meet/exceed targets. Technical knowledge: Understanding of HOCl applications (e.g., pest/disease control, water sanitation, wound management in cattle/poultry). Relationship-building: Excellent communication; ability to consult with clients (e.g., farmers, vets) and provide technical support. Analytical: Proficient in CRM (Salesforce), data tools (Excel, Qlik); market research and forecasting. Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel. Knowledge of EPA/USDA regulations for disinfectants. Personal Attributes: Results-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset; passion for sustainable ag/livestock solutions. Ability to work independently in a startup-like environment while collaborating cross-functionally. Travel Up to 50-60% (field visits, trade shows, client meetings; focus on US markets like California ag regions, Midwest livestock hubs).
