Description

HunaTek is seeking a skilled and motivated Business Development Manager with a focus on securing contracts with Department of Defense (DOD) and Federal Civilian Agencies. Top candidates will have extensive experience and relationships with customers within one or more of the following accounts: Navy/Marine Corps, Air Force, United States Space Force, Department of Homeland Security, and NASA. As an Alaska Native-owned family of companies, HunaTek delivers purposeful solutions to the federal government. The successful candidate will be well-versed in the ANC 8(a) government contracting arena, and possess a deep understanding of joint ventures, contracting vehicles, subcontractor/partner relationships, and the federal procurement process.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving business development strategies and executing plans tailored to the assigned account. Your key duties will include identifying and pursuing new opportunities in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. Leveraging your existing contacts and establishing new relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and potential partners within assigned accounts will be crucial to your success.
To ensure that HunaTek remains competitive, you will conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, analyze competitors, and discover potential areas for business expansion. Collaboration with internal teams and our partners will be vital to develop tailored solutions and proposals that align with client needs and requirements.
Staying informed about industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities that may impact growth prospects will be part of your ongoing responsibilities. As a trusted advisor to senior management, you will provide strategic insights, recommendations, and market intelligence to drive business growth effectively. This is an ideal position for someone used to being involved every step of the BD process, from initial research to contract end. There is also great potential for upward mobility within the company as HunaTek continues to expand its footprint in the government contracting space.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in developing and managing a pipeline of business from opportunity identification to capture in the federal government contracting environment.
  • 2-4 years of recent experience as a business development leader for one or more Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) owned entities, with a deep understanding of 8(a) contracting and its implications, regulations, and requirements, preferred.
  • Ability to identify and capture new federal government business through pursuit of direct, sole-source, set-aside, and open competition awards.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, government opportunity databases (GovWin, SAM.gov), and market intelligence platforms.
  • Proficiency in standard business applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated success in closing high-value contracts and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong network of established relationships is essential within one or more of the following accounts is essential: Navy/Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Department of Homeland Security, and NASA.
  • A collaborative leader and team player with the ability to rally cross-functional support for business development initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage and influence key stakeholders at all levels effectively.
  • U.S. citizenship and a current security clearance or the ability to obtain at least a Secret clearance.
  • This position may require travel up to 25-50% of the time to attend industry events, client meetings, and partner engagements
