For Lummus Novolen Technology GmbH in Mannheim/ Germany we are looking for a Business Development Manager (m/f/d) - Licensing and Services to join our Sales team.
Key Responsibilities
General Description:

The incumbent is responsible for all commercial/contractual activities related to licensing, catalysts and technical services linked to the sale of PP, HDPE, LDPE and SAP technology licenses. The regional area of responsibility is global excluding China, AFMEI and Europe, but some exceptions may be required depending on project workload.

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities for PP, HDPE, LDPE and SAP and related catalysts (if applicable) and technical services
  • Supporting the development of global commercial and marketing strategies by providing market intelligence
  • Supporting the sales forecasting process,
  • In consultation with other team members (incl. from other Lummus departments, where applicable), deciding on the sales strategy for individual proposals and assuring adequate staffing of the proposal effort
  • Developing and maintaining optimal relationship with key personnel of potential clients and involving senior management where required
  • Coordinating proposal risk analysis
  • Preparing commercial offers and coordinating timely delivery of technical proposals,
  • Preparing and making client presentations for technology sales
  • Reviewing and approving contract terms and conditions, whilst coordinating with management, legal and finance departments
  • Negotiating license, engineering, catalyst sales and technical service agreements,
  • Accompanying prospective licensees for visits to reference plant,
  • Commercial liaison with relevant licensor partners

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • BSChE/MSc with a minimum of ten years of experience in R&D, process design, manufacturing, and/or technology licensing of polyolefins (preferable) or petrochemicals technologies (acceptable if relevant)
  • Previous experience in marketing/sales in an international environment
  • Prior technology sales (licensing) experience a plus
  • Strong background in petrochemicals / polyolefins
  • Petrochemical/polyolefins operations/planning/consulting background is desirable
  • Strong leadership abilities and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High degree of self-motivation and energy
  • Capability of earning respect of team and capable of influencing others
  • Excellent professional image/presentation

  • Qualifications:
    Lummus Novolen Technology GmbH is a Lummus Technology group responsible for the development, marketing and sales of Novolen polypropylene technology.
    As a Business Development Manager you will need to identify potential new clients or follow-up on leads and manage the full process of relationship building, technology marketing, execution of confidentiality agreements, identify expectations and needs of client, develop commercial proposal along with technical proposal, negotiation and contract conclusion.
    This is a team-effort and can span a long period of time between project identification and contract conclusion and may involve coordination with other Lummus group departments.
    The position is based in Mannheim, Germany, however clients are based worldwide, and extensive travel will be required (around 40-60%, with occasional peaks above).
