REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Fluent in German and English, written and verbal
• Resident in Germany and German citizenship
• Preferable a military or civilian background with the German Armed Forces
• International business and customer relations experience within Germany
• The ability to identify business opportunities
• The ability to maintain and manage current business relationships as well as identify new business with government and commercial customers
• Strong ability to build successful business relationships with all levels of stakeholders in both public and private sectors
• A team player who can work well with international multi-cultural teams, committed to personal excellence, ethical behaviour and integrity
• Knowledge and experience of successfully working and thriving in a fast paced environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Global Business Development (GBD) International Europe is part of Lockheed Martin corporation, which is headquartered in Bethesda Maryland. We are a dynamic team covering a wide breadth of business across the whole European region. This position covers Germany and will work closely with both GBD International Europe and US colleagues.
The role requires fluency in German as well as excellent written and spoken English. The selected individual will need to be fully mobile to travel as required. High ethical standards and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural team is key. A background in the military and/or government would be preferable.
The position works to strengthen Lockheed Martin’s customer relationships and support the development and delivery of the corporate strategy across the region. As part of the GBD International team, and reporting to the Senior Manager Germany, the position supports the profitable growth of Lockheed Martin business in Germany.
The GBDI Business Development Manager Germany will report to the Senior Manager Germany and identify and support opportunities across the whole LM product portfolio and support the DACH Regional Director as well as the Senior Manager Germany to be successful in winning/keep-sold key programmes in country.

Working closely with corporate functions and Business Areas in LM, the Business Development Manager will;

• Identify and support opportunities for LM corporate engagement and business development in Germany
• Provide a strong understanding of German customer plans and priorities
• Understand the business environment and trends affecting Lockheed Martin
• Execute strategy and support regional leadership for growing and maintaining Lockheed Martin business in Germany and the region

Responsibilities include;

• Lead the implementation of the Lockheed Martin Germany strategy
• Gather insights about actual and future opportunities across the whole LM Portfolio
• Represent Lockheed Martin with Government, Political, Industrial and Military stakeholders in Germany and develop and maintain positive and appropriate relationships with them in coordination with the Business Areas
• Provide LM Business Areas with a clear understanding of changing customer needs and expectations in terms of capabilities, technologies, requirements and their impact on capture / contract content and delivery
• Provide political, military and economic situational reports to Lockheed Martin executives
• Maintaining and strengthening the links with German Armed Forces, MoD and BAAINBw
• Attend events in favour of the Corporation’s business development and government relations goal
• Support regional leadership in having situational awareness and the right basis for decision to support the BA’s.
