Description

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – TRANSPORT, WAREHOUSING & 3PL SOLUTIONS

Location: Colchester, Essex
Company Description: Marshalls Logistics is a well-established, family-owned, and operated haulage and warehousing company based in Colchester. We pride ourselves on our reputation for excellent customer service, reliability, and a commitment to providing transport and warehousing solutions. We are a tight-knit team, and we are looking for a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join us and help drive the next phase of our company’s growth.
The Role: We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager with a proven track record of selling transport, warehousing, and 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) solutions. This is a crucial role for our business, and you will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new contracts and partnerships.
In your role, you will be expected to expand our client bas. This role is not just about sales; it’s about building long-term, strategic relationships and identifying opportunities for both one-off adhoc work and contracted business. We are looking for a strategic thinker who can not only win new business but also help shape our services, improve our marketing (potentially social media) presence and to meet the evolving needs of our demanding industry.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to achieve sales targets and expand our market share.
  • Proactively identify and generate new business leads through market research, networking, and cold calling.
  • Conduct consultative sales meetings to understand potential clients’ logistics challenges and present tailored solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and tender submissions.
  • Negotiate and close new business contracts for transport, warehousing, and 3PL solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with new clients.
  • Collaborate with the operations and management teams to ensure a seamless transition for new clients and the successful delivery of services.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and inform business strategy.
  • Secure both long-term contracts and project-based/advice work to diversify and strengthen our revenue streams.
