Thanks for taking the time to read about this role of Business Development Manager – Fixed Systems with Martek.
Martek Marine specialises in providing sustainable solutions to the maritime industry to ensure ship safety, efficiency and crew well-being!
Established in the UK in 2000, and in Singapore in 2011. Many of the team have been with the company since the start, having progressed and developed into various departments.
As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for profitable promotion and growth of the Martek Marine fixed system portfolio of products in the commercial marine and O&G markets globally, creating and executing sales strategies to grow both new build and retrofit sales through yards, agents and end user customers.

In terms of key responsibilities you will:

  • Build strong business relationships with partners in Europe, APAC and the Middle East.
  • Manage and assess the performance of existing agents.
  • Identify and target new partners in key growth regions and have Martek products listed on all key yard makers lists.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the legislation related to the fixed system product portfolio and utilising this knowledge to drive sales growth to new and existing customers.
  • Create and deliver world-class commercial proposals and tender submissions.
  • Monitor and research market and competitor activity and provide relevant reports and recommended action.
  • Attend conferences and professional association meetings as part of the sales team and promote the group’s product solutions and brands.
  • Build a qualified sales pipeline worth at least £10m 60% confidence in year one through in-person customer visits, virtual meetings and telephone lead generation. Future pipelines to be agreed.

The role will be in our office in Rotherham – Adwick Park, Manvers, Rotherham, S63 5AB, and we offer hybrid working, usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays in the office.
You will also be required to Travel globally to meet customers and attend conferences (typically, 4-6 times per year).

  • Have a strong technical mindset - essential for understanding complex products and solutions.
  • Some knowledge of fixed gas detection systems or similar instrumentation systems / products.
  • Proven cold-calling expertise with a confident telephone manner; skilled in objection handling, negotiation, and closing deals.
  • Experienced in negotiation and managing long sales cycles, with a strong track record of developing and progressing customer relationships
