Business Development Manager – Cross-Border Reefer (Toronto)
R&W Carriers Inc. is a Canadian-based long-haul reefer carrier specializing in cross-border freight. We run Toronto & Montreal ⇄ U.S. Midwest, Texas, and Florida, and bring back produce and other temperature-controlled freight northbound.
Your Role
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to win direct shipper freight in our core lanes. You’ll prospect, quote, and close new business, then work with dispatch to deliver flawless service.

What You’ll Do

• Prospect and land new direct shipper accounts (food, produce, frozen, pharma, grocery).
• Quote, negotiate, and close both spot and contract lanes.
• Pilot trial loads and convert to consistent weekly business.
• Collaborate with operations for on-time, temperature-compliant deliveries.
• Use CRM tools to manage pipeline and report activity.

What You Bring

• 3+ years in reefer / temperature-controlled / cross-border trucking sales.
• Proven track record of direct shipper wins (not just brokers).
• Strong knowledge of pricing (linehaul, FSC, detention, reefer fuel, accessorials).
• Understanding of Canada–U.S. cross-border paperwork (ACE, ACI, PARS, PAPS).
• Existing shipper relationships in the Midwest, Texas, or Florida are a strong plus.

Compensation

• Base Salary: CAD $70–90k
• Commission: 7–10% of gross margin on new accounts (12 months)
• Bonus: $1,000 for each new account reaching 4+ loads/month
• CRM, tools, and travel expenses covered
