OVERVIEW OF POSITION

The Business Development Specialist creates value for the organization by leading initiatives to grow company and community engagement for the purpose of volunteer recruitment, in kind contributions, and funding opportunities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and familiarity with editing software such as Adobe inDesign and Canva
• Knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp, and donor database software.
• Advanced knowledge of copy writing and audience engagement analytics
• Understanding of the work schedule of non-profits

EDUCATION

• Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field such as Public Relations, or Recruitment
• Two-year diplomas in those areas including Saskatchewan Polytechnic Business Diploma with a specialty in Public Relations will also be considered where there is relevant lived and/or work experience.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience in graphic design is an asset
• Experience creating and implementing social media campaigns (analytics, content planning and digital marketing techniques)
• Experience working with the corporate sector and knowledge of other community resources
• Experience with donor data management and stewardship
• 3-5 years’ relevant experience
