Description

Our Sales & Marketing team is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Development Trainee focused on supporting our sales efforts to academic institutions and public and private universities. The position is a 6-month full-time paid trainee position with the potential to grow into a permanent role. You will be working out of our Burlington, MA office with other members of our sales and marketing team. You should be a self-starter and confident in your ability to communicate effectively with prospective academic customers. This position offers competitive compensation and the chance to work with a fun, supportive team of professionals.
In this role, you will learn sales techniques and grow in your career by gaining real-world experience selling and donating the company’s software products. You’ll help expand SoftInWay’s academic outreach program by identifying and engaging with engineering programs at target universities.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Prior sales experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Experience in customer satisfaction or customer service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong attention to detail when managing data
  • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce is a plus
  • Highly organized, curious, and eager to learn and contribute
  • A second language is a plus

Responsibilities
  • Researching and identifying new academic sales opportunities to promote adoption by faculty and students of SoftInWay technologies.
  • Coordinating with universities on collaborative outreach efforts, including joint marketing activities and academic visibility campaigns.
  • Facilitating onboarding for new academic partners by organizing meetings, preparing materials, and overseeing software deployment.
  • Maintaining and supporting relationships with existing partner academic institutions to ensure continued use of SoftInWay software and engagement.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with sales and marketing teams to align EDU program initiatives with broader business objectives.
