THE ROLE
This is an exciting role in the agency’s newest, progressive thinking and innovative department, &Accelerate.
Having built up a client list of 15x exiting fast-growth brands, &Accelerate has strong ambitions for further growth across their existing client base and with new business, and as such this role will provide a fantastic opportunity to inform innovative and develop and across a range of different sectors and challenges.
This role will cover Purplebricks (the UK’s biggest estate agent), Hawkstone (one for the fastest growing beer and cider brands), INEOS, itsu, Rituals and a range of additional new and exciting emerging brands backed by investor funding. Each of these brands has ambitious growth plans and an exciting challenger mentality.
The Business Director is the media lead within the &Accelerate team (which also offers Commerce and Creative). They work alongside the Head of &Accelerate to bring to life the media strategy in line with the various business & marketing objectives. They manage the output of 3x account teams and will be responsible for leading the output of these teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client
- Manages all communications and builds relationships with the &Accelerate clients, as well as with the client partner agencies.
- Lead on end-to-end planning for annual brief responses and campaigns throughout the year.
- Drive innovation across campaign responses and give clear direction to the agency team to ensure our approach is fuelled by insights/data and tells a clear story - pulling in cross-team and senior support as and when required.
- Ensure that specialists are working effectively across projects, monitoring our delivery of the client scope and tracking it on an ongoing basis.
- Build a deep understanding and be well versed with the brands vertical, competition and their business, to understand the challenges and opportunities they face.
- Lead key weekly and quarterly meetings.
Agency
- Working with the Head of &Accelerate to explore opportunities to drive revenue growth for the brands we work with.
- Overseeing account financials to ensure accuracy and timely management and maximise profitability and efficiency (e.g. reconciliations, payments, billings, financial tracking).
- Maintain good relations with external agencies, internal teams & media owners to understand what services and products exist that could help deliver our client’s business KPIs!
- Demonstrate understanding of wider WPP partner agencies and explore opportunities to collaborate for the benefit of the brands we work with

THE KEY CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE WILL BE:
- Overseeing all outputs from yourself & the Communications Planning & Account Director + 2x Account Managers and 3x Account Exec’s – ensuring that every document is ruthlessly quality controlled for excellence & is delivered on time (e.g. media recommendations, finance queries, competitor reports etc.)
- Use T&Pm Planning Process and &Accelerate growth playbooks to lead cross-channel media recommendations end-to-end – ensuring that it is fuelled by insights/data and tells a clear story
- Ensure the smooth running of campaign activity across all channels from start to finish, liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (including specialist teams, external agencies and clients)
- Taking full ownership of key campaigns, becoming a ‘go-to’ person for client’s day to day
- To help develop & support the Communications Planning & Account Executive
- Delivering insightful and action oriented competitive analysis
- Tracking financial approval emails and POs
- Presenting regularly at client meetings on a variety of different topics, with gravitas
- Maintaining good relations with external agencies, internal teams & media owners
- To raise the profile of the accounts in the agency by producing, submitting (and talking about publicly) our award-winning work
- Ensuring that all financial aspects are accurate and delivered on-time (e.g. reconciliations, payments, billings, financial tracking)
