Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Business intelligence Analyst to join our growing team in Newcastle
We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to work in our team of talented analysts
which is a mixture of on and offshore resources. The ideal candidate will have
experience in designing, building, and deploying Power BI solutions. This role involves
collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs, working with the data
warehousing team to create semantic logical data models, and designing & developing
visually compelling reports and dashboard that offer real insight into our data

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and Data Insight Analysts to gather andunderstand their data visualization and business intelligence requirements.
  • Design solutions and where necessary collaborate with your Data Science, Engineering and Warehousing colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports using Power BI.
  • Implement data security measures, including row-level security.
  • Develop and implementation of Power BI solutions.
  • Optimize Power BI solutions for performance and scalability.
  • Conduct unit testing and troubleshoot issues.
  • Follow and produce processes and methodologies.
  • Mentor and coach junior analysts.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data visualization and business intelligence
  • Provide support and guidance to business stakeholders in using the reports /dashboards including any training / training content.

Who we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a Power BI Developer / Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including DAX and Power Query/ SQL
  • Understanding of data modelling and database design.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • UI / UX skills to help visualise the data and ‘tell a story’
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or work experience to the equivalent
  • Desirable knowledge of Amazon Workspaces and/ or Microsoft Fabric
