We are seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with strong MicroStrategy expertise and broad experience in BI platform operations to support the delivery of analytics and reporting solutions in a federal environment. This role is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, managing, maintaining, and operating enterprise BI tools and delivering scalable, secure, and accessible dashboards and reports. This position plays a critical role in advising and enabling the client’s data-driven decision-making capabilities by delivering scalable dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy, Business Objects, and Power BI. The developer will collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, and developers to ensure solutions are accurate, accessible, and aligned with the client’s data architecture modernization efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain BI dashboards, reports, documents, and analytics using Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy and/or other enterprise-grade BI tools.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the BI platform, including administration, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and user support.
  • Create and maintain schema objects, metrics, filters, prompts, visualizations, and metadata within the BI environment.
  • Support the ingestion, transformation, and normalization of data across multiple sources (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, Sybase, Redshift, S3).
  • Conduct platform optimization and performance tuning to ensure BI content is responsive, scalable, and user-friendly.
  • Establish and manage user roles, permissions, and security controls in accordance with enterprise standards.
  • Document BI architecture, data definitions, and dashboard specifications to support ongoing support.
  • Integrate MicroStrategy with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Redshift, and AWS-hosted data services.
  • Support the enhancement of cloud-based and hybrid data analytics platforms, contributing to secure and efficient data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate data outputs, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and relevance to business needs.
  • Support metadata standardization, documentation, and governance efforts to enable future AI and data science capabilities.
  • Apply industry standards, including NIST SP800-53, ISO/IEC 27001, Section 508, and DAMA-DMBOK.
  • Participate in the transition and sustainment of modernized data systems with a focus on BI tool integration.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and deliver support for BI platform performance, tuning, and upgrades
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining BI platforms, dashboards, and reports
  • 2+ years in management and maintenance of MicroStrategy platform, dashboards, and report development
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
  • Public Trust required with the ability to obtain Secret clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Deep understanding of BI principles, data visualization best practices, and user experience design.
  • Strong command of at least one enterprise BI platform (MicroStrategy preferred)
  • Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and metadata documentation practices
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted and hybrid data environments
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to nontechnical users and support stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and written skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
