Business Intelligence Developer The Company Hooker Furnishings Corporation (HOFT), in its 101st year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets. Based in Martinsville, VA with administrative offices in High Point, NC, domestic production facilities in Hickory, NC and Bedford, VA and distribution warehouses in Martinsville, VA, Hooker Furniture is ranked among the nation’s largest publicly traded furniture sources. Hooker Furniture also operates multiple showrooms in High Point, NC and Las Vegas NV, and administrative offices in Vietnam. The Position We are seeking a BI Developer to join our team in Martinsville, VA. This position is responsible for maintaining a data warehouse, providing business intelligence services, spearheading BI development, and surfacing Power BI reports. Responsibilities include: * Building Analysis Services reporting models * Developing visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop * Designing paginated reports to provide users with actionable information * Connecting data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business intelligence * Analyzing data and displaying it in reports to aid decision-making * Recognizing business requirements in the context of BI and creating data models to transform raw data into relevant insights * Defining key performance indicators (KPIs) with specific objectives and tracking them regularly * Analytical thinking for translating data into informative reports and visuals. * Capable of implementing row-level security on data along with an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI. * Expert in using advanced-level calculations on the data set. * Creating meaningful and responsive measures in data sets to surface important information * Should be able to develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with data warehouse standards. * Very good communication skills must be able to discuss the requirements effectively with the client teams, and with internal teams.
