Description
The Role As our Business Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Communicare Academy by managing finance and business operations. You’ll work closely with the Academy Principal and leadership team to ensure smooth administration and compliance, while building strong relationships with staff, students, and families to foster a vibrant school community. As the Business Manager, you will: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and compliance activities, ensuring transparency and alignment with regulatory requirements and strategic priorities. Manage procurement, asset registers, canteen operations, and ensure efficient use of school resources to support educational programs and student wellbeing. Contribute to policy development, lead compliance initiatives, and participate in incident management planning, risk assessment, and emergency preparedness. Build strong relationships with community partners, pursue grant opportunities, and collaborate on funding applications to enhance student support programs. Work with the Principal and Leadership Team to implement the school’s strategic plan, prepare reports for the Board and Executive, and drive long-term business planning. Ensure accurate financial and student record management, maintain compliance with registration requirements, and manage external reporting obligations. This role will be located in Cannington and offered on a permanent full time work basis working 76 hours a fortnight. About You You’re a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen and a passion for education. You thrive in dynamic environments and bring empathy, leadership, and problem-solving skills to every challenge. In addition, you will have: Certificate IV or higher in Business, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent). Proven experience in budgeting, financial planning, and managing school or organisational finances, including grant management and fundraising. Experience working with school boards or similar governance bodies, including preparing reports, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and managing risk. Experience working in an educational setting, preferably in a leadership or management role. Proficiency in using technology for financial management, administrative tasks, and communication, including familiarity with school management systems. Interpreting data and presenting high level documents and reports. Work well in a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment Valid drivers’ licence, Working with Children Check, Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date).
