As the Business Manager, you’ll be a key driver of operational excellence and strategic growth across a diverse range of functions:

  • Strategic Leadership & Operational Oversight:
  • Co-manage end-to-end business operations by championing a culture of continuous improvement and high-performance.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and mentorship to their dedicated office support team, including schedulers, outsourced bookkeeper, and administrative staff.
  • Facilitate and lead weekly Toolbox and Leadership meetings, ensuring accountability, driving key initiatives, and tracking follow-through.
  • Oversee the intricate daily scheduling of the plumbing team. This is a critical function, encompassing direct scheduling involvement, supervision of the scheduler, real-time monitoring of field staff, and strategic prioritization to optimize client satisfaction and business utilization.
  • Financial Stewardship & Insight:
  • Partner with outsourced bookkeeping team to ensure impeccable, timely invoicing and proactive management of accounts receivable, optimizing cash flow.
  • Review and approve payroll, meticulously managing overtime, time in lieu (TIL), and comprehensive leave planning.
  • Develop and deliver insightful financial and operational reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly), providing data-driven analysis and actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Client & Contractor Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key clients, expertly managing escalated service issues and consistently exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee all aspects of subcontractor engagement, including compliance verification, approvals, and efficient purchase order management.
  • Planning, Compliance & Resource Optimisation:
  • Lead proactive resource planning initiatives, including optimizing on-call rosters, strategically leveraging subcontractor partnerships, and comprehensive leave management.
  • Oversee the efficient and compliant management of the fleet and equipment assets.
  • Ensure robust safety management systems, meticulous reporting, and ongoing adherence to all regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Streamline day-to-day office operations, fostering a productive and high-efficiency work environment.
  • People & Culture Development:
  • Champion all HR-related matters, from seamless staff inductions and tailored training plans to effective performance reviews and the setting of clear, business-aligned KPIs.
  • Cultivate team development and morale through transparent communication, structured feedback mechanisms, and empathetic, proactive leadership.
  • Growth Acceleration & Innovation:
  • Actively contribute to business expansion through strategic networking and proactive opportunity development.
  • Drive internal communication, facilitate valuable training programs, and strengthen team cohesion and engagement.
