Description

The Business Office Manager oversees all daily operations of the department including billing, collections, payment processing, reimbursement, denial management, financial assistance and prior authorization. This position ensures compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation standards, and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations. Essential functions include:

  • Supervises all Business office staff, consisting of billers, financial assistance counselor and prior authorization staff. Responsible for coordinating patient billing for self-pay, commercial and third-party payer reimbursement. Monitors the department budget. Provides cross-coverage for staff vacancies and time off. Serves as a resource person for billing topics. Monitors quality of department functions and productivity. Seeks ways to improve area operations. Monitors and audits department processes. May assist in government reporting. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, evaluating and facilitating the development of new employees. Performs all supervisory functions including preparing performance evaluations. Provides employees with guidance and handles any disciplinary action in accordance with established personnel policies. Outlines and conducts effective training and orientation programs for all assigned personnel. Leadership experience preferred.
