JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Business Office Trainer, you will contribute to the company’s mission, vision, and values by providing leadership and a positive environment for the business office team. Under guidance of the Business Office Manager, you will serve as the technical expert with regard to office functions and training for the team.

What you will do:

  • You will handle various business office duties to include: medical records, patient registration and scheduling
  • You will obtain CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis codes and other clinical information as required by the physician’s office
  • You will prepare documentation for Notification of Non-covered Medicare Services or Advance Beneficiary notices to patients and notify physician’s offices about these procedures
  • You will complete chart requests from Medical Records and notify the Materials Manager /Nurse Manager of any physician requests or special equipment needed for upcoming surgeries/procedures
  • You will determine the duration needed for surgeries in the operating room and work with OR nurse to ensure a daily schedule is streamlined
  • You will maintain the center block schedule list and arrange necessary anesthesia coverage
  • You will call/fax physician’s offices to notify them of any open schedule times that may allow for additional cases to be taken at the center
  • You will perform collection, processing, filing and maintenance of medical records
  • You will arrange all chart forms and correspondence reports (e.g., operative, lab, electrocardiogram, x-ray, pathology, etc.) in appropriate order
  • You are responsible for adhering to medico-legal requirements when answering correspondence and inquiries
  • You will obtain all missing chart contents needed to complete medical records
  • You will uphold a checkout and return system for medical records while maintaining confidentiality and security of the documents
  • You are responsible for the arrangement of a safe off-site for the storage of microfilming
  • You will serve as a liaison between your surgery center and the transcription companyYou will be responsible for facilitating patient admissions to include: reviewing all information with your patient, completing appropriate forms, and copying insurance cards and photo identification

    • Collect and document all collection actions for your patient’s co-payment and deductibles at the time of service and issue appropriate payment receipts
  • Youu will perform routine clerical and administrative functions
  • Prepare, collect and deliver your patient charts and pull previous medical records
  • You will perform insurance verification
  • Manage the reception area and greet your patients and family members in a professional manner

Qualificationsyou will need:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office setting, preferably an ambulatory setting

At the Surgery Ventures Central Business office in MidAmerica, we support financial and patient care operations of 8 ambulatory surgery centers across the Kansas City Metro. Staff are assigned to work with one or more surgery centers via remote, in office and hybrid working environments.
