ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia’s largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
Join a Team That Changes Lives – Business Operational Support
About the role
At The Salvation Army, we believe in standing with the vulnerable, supporting the voiceless, and creating hope where it feels lost. As part of our Supported Accommodation and Afterhours Crisis Response (SAACR) team, you won’t just be working in an office — you’ll be the beating heart that helps keep our vital family violence services running.
We’re looking for a compassionate and organised Business Operational Support to join our team in Coburg. In this part-time role, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of our refuge and crisis accommodation services — helping our frontline teams provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for victim survivors of family violence.
Why you matter
In this role, you are more than administration — you are part of the healing journey for women and children fleeing violence. Your ability to stay organised, communicate clearly, and offer calm within chaos directly supports those doing life-saving work.
Reporting to the Administration Coordinator, this is a fixed-term part-time position, 15.2 hours per week contracted for 12 months, primarily based in Coburg North, VIC. You may occasionally be required to work at our Long Term and Short Term Refuge sites.
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 3.

You will successfully

  • Be the first point of contact — warmly welcoming calls and visitors with professionalism and empathy
  • Support our busy team by managing admin systems, office logistics, finance records (petty cash, vouchers), and IT site admin
  • Maintain confidential and accurate records to support essential case management for clients
  • Organise building maintenance, resources, and ensure our systems run smoothly so our staff can focus on care
  • Onboard new staff and volunteers — helping them feel prepared and supported from day one
  • Keep our work safe and compliant with all WHS standards and The Salvation Army’s policies

You will have

  • A Cert IV or Diploma in Business Administration (desirable) and solid admin/reception experience
  • Passion for purpose — ideally with experience in family violence services or the not-for-profit sector
  • A high level of confidentiality, compassion, and emotional maturity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and comfort using technology to stay organised
  • Strong team spirit and an eagerness to support others with kindness and professionalism
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • A current Working with Children’s Check
