Ashesi University Foundation is seeking a Business Operations Manager to be the backbone of our operations, ensuring we can effectively support Ashesi University’s vital mission of educating ethical, entrepreneurial leaders in Africa. This position reports to the Vice President of the Foundation.

WHO YOU ARE:

You’re a business-savvy individual with a bias for action and a proven track record in operational excellence. Ideally, you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher plus relevant professional experience.
  • Expertise in grant management and a deep understanding of the grant lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and optimizing systems and processes, always looking for ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong proficiency in managing board meetings and materials, ensuring seamless communication and organization.
  • Knowledge of MS 365, Trello, Salesforce, and the ability to learn and utilize BoardEffect and other systems.
  • Experience in insurance and licensing management, navigating regulatory landscapes with ease.
  • A results-orientation and a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Proven supervisory skills, with a genuine desire to develop and support team members.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee and develop administrative and operational activities; managing and improving workflows, coordinating between departments, and ensuring systems, tools, technology infrastructure, and processes operate effectively. Your work will directly improve how we operate.
  • Grant Management and Compliance: Oversee grants to the university, reporting, and compliance - to ensure accurate and timely financial support. Work with the Ashesi Foundation teams to ensure grant and endowment agreements, data management, and reporting systems create an excellent donor experience.
  • Board & Committee Stewardship: Coordinate with our sister foundation in Canada to provide comprehensive support for all board and committee activities, including meticulous organization of board meetings and materials, writing minutes, diligent follow-up, and logistical support for twice annual in-person meetings.
  • Operational Acumen: Administer essential business functions such as insurance, documentation, compliance, licensing, and annual filings, ensuring everything runs smoothly and legally.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor our Operations Associate, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Systems: Use and optimize internal systems and tools such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Trello, and BoardEffect.
