Description

Our business operations specialist provides technical assistance with the development, documentation, testing, training, and implementation of new and existing business information systems. This role focuses on business systems configuration, reporting, user support, and process analysis rather than software development or infrastructure management. The operations specialist reports within the Information Technology team at Cochrane & Company and will often act as a liaison for the technology team with all business units within Cochrane & Company to provide organizational leaders with detailed analysis of current business processes.

This position is a full-time position. Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. No contractors.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist in the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing business information systems
  • Configure and maintain XML/JSON system configuration files
  • Provide Tier 1 and 2 technical support to end users
  • Create and maintain business reports and dashboards
  • Analyze and document business processes and system workflows
  • Evaluate system user concerns, requirements, and requests for system features and uses
  • Ensure daily performance of end user computer systems
  • Coordinate with business and software development teams to ensure the required infrastructure is in place to support their efforts
  • Assist with the development of training materials and procedures
  • Conduct training of users in the proper use of business information systems

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two or more years of experience on a software development project team, including requirement and specification writing, test case development and execution as well as user onboarding oversight
  • Experience with service desk operations and user support (Tier 1 & 2)
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, accounting, computer science or related field preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong communication and meeting facilitation skills that support collaboration between business and technology teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including critically seeking and evaluating information gathered from multiple sources
  • Understanding of relational data models, including reading complex SQL statements and writing data selection scripts
  • Familiarity with configuration file formats (XML, JSON)
  • Experience with reporting tools and data visualization
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with colleagues, managers and the public. Experience with wire-framing techniques preferred
  • Act as a liaison between various business, technology and support teams
  • Proficiency with data manipulation and business intelligence tools as well as standard software packages including Microsoft Office, Visio and related design tools
  • Knowledge of wholesale insurance (MGA) distribution model and typical back office workflows strongly preferred
