Our progressive and growing firm is seeking a self-motivated intermediate to Senior accountant who is able to maintain a high level of customer service and manage their own workflow. The role requires the successful candidate to be able to work independently on their own and assist the partners with behind the scenes accountancy services to clients.
The role is a hands-on role and requires the accountant to be responsible for the tax and business compliance work for a diverse and broad client base alongside onsite managers in Australia.
A flat management structure allows the successful candidate to work closely with the partners.

Main responsibilities and duties will include:-

  • Preparation of individual income tax returns for our firm
  • Ensure working papers for individuals are maintained
  • Source documents are saved in the appropriate folders
  • Collation of jobs for sending out
  • Downloading of appropriate ATO reports
  • Invoicing for the job
  • Drafting of queries and request for information

The position could develop into a team lead role where they would be responsible for overseeing other team members in preparing individual tax returns.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accounting university degree
  • Completed or near completion of Chartered Accountants program or equivalent

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in using Xero, Windows Excel, Windows Word, QuickBooks and MYOB
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great written and spoken English
  • Strong team player who is eager to learn new tasks, systems, processes and software

The person will need to be comfortable in being the first point of contact for SME business owners and high net wealth family groups and advising them on their financial journey through life. You will be supported by other ambitious team members and an offshore team reporting directly to you.

Responsibilities

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES WILL INCLUDE: -

  • Manage your own portfolio of clients and being the first point of contact
  • Delivering business and tax compliance for your client base
  • Providing business, tax and financial advice pertaining to your clients
  • Assist with the preparation of BAS/IAS, as required
  • Preparing client billings in relation to your own work
  • Managing your outsource team to help you achieve deliverables
  • Deliver business and tax advisory solutions to clients
  • Outsourced CFO and finance department services to clients
  • Development of internal procedures
