An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Traffic Investigation Unit at West Midlands Police as a Business Support Assistant Apprentice. As a key member of the team, you shall routinely communicate with a significant number of internal and external partners and stakeholders by managing the administration which is generated from Road Traffic Offences which is key for keeping our roads safe From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. This role is constantly evolving and is perfect for someone looking to make the roads of the West Midlands safer. Key Responsibilities * Triaging enquiries as appropriate and dealing with 3rd party disclosure requests for civil claims from external agencies such as insurers and solicitors ensuring court orders are complied with in a timely manner. * Inputting case data, raising court postal requisitions for Single Justice procedure and Police Led Prosecution courts inclusive of serving the relevant disclosure on defendants prior to the court hearing. * Inputting collision data into systems and effectively manage all correspondence related to Road Traffic Offences - this includes generating letters and sending emails. * To deal with enquiries from either the public /internal or external agencies that will provide the recipient with sufficient data and information to deal with the enquiry effectively. * To carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose and grading of the post that may be required. Essential skills: * GCSE or equivalent English (Grade C/4 or above) * GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade C/4 or above) * Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to negotiate and influence others through verbal and written communication effectively and professionally. * Excellent customer service skills. * You will be expected to manage their own workload on a daily basis giving regard to legislative time frames and demand as well as being a confident decision maker who is able to interpret relevant legislation and guidance when considering the disclosure of information with minimal supervision * You will be required to have contact with members of the public and professional bodies and be expected to represent the service in a professional and helpful manner and assist in the delivery of effective and efficient administrative support. * Proficient in all Microsoft applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word to fulfil role requirements. * Experience in writing concise reports whilst maintaining close attention to detail to inform and update others. * Work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required. Training and qualification As an apprentice West Midlands Police will train you and you will undertake a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship which will include: * Fully recognised apprenticeship qualification - Level 3 Business Administrator * On-the-job competency training * Training will be delivered online with occasional site visits by a vocational skills coach to assess you in the workplace.
