Description
Prospective officers and staff must be held to a higher standard of behaviour and accountability than members of the public, and that therefore their right to privacy can be fettered in certain circumstances. This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold. To provide an efficient and effective clerical and administrative support service whilst working on the Vetting Business Support Team within the Professional Standards Department. Responsibilities Accurately record vetting applications on the vetting system- CoreVet Log and update vetting records Review and refuse incorrectly completed vetting records Terminate vetting records in line with data protection and GDPR. Update and finalise all records on the system and check for data quality and accuracy. Plan and prioritise own workload daily, responding to department requirements with the support of tasks and work priorities being allocated by a supervisor manager or senior colleagues. Provide guidance and support to colleagues where/when required. Any other duties commensurate with the role and band/grade Respond to email enquiries from members of the public, other departments and agencies. Provide general clerical assistance to the Department, e.g. photocopying, scanning documents, postal despatch, maintenance of records and management information. Skills and Competencies Essential: Knowledge of relevant legislation or guidelines including those surrounding Data Protection, Government Protective Marking, Disclosure, Freedom of Information legislation and guidance Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, demonstrating the utmost integrity and professionalism. Proven and demonstrable commitment to fairness, diversity and inclusion, the successful candidate must complete unconscious bias training. Excellent Interpersonal skills. Demonstrate an ability to prioritise tasks. Ability to work to deadlines with high demand and to demonstrate flexibility. Must be willing to undergo and pass relevant vetting requirements to MV level. Experience of using Police systems. Good keyboard skills. Experience of working on own initiative and within a team environment. Able to demonstrate effective partnership working with other departments and agencies. Desirable Able to manage own workload with limited supervision and an ability to recognise when support is required from the line manager. Able to offer support with more complex processes in order to resolve problems. Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test. Hours and Location: The working hours are 0800 x 1600 (Monday to Friday) and the role will be based in Lloyd House, Birmingham.
