THE ROLE
As a Business Support Officer (BSO), your role will be administration-based. Supporting our teams to keep the country safe, you’ll be at the heart of our mission. You’ll start on a three-year development pathway and over the course of this time, you’ll have placements in two different teams as a BSO, where you’ll benefit from a variety of work, practical learning, and unique opportunities, all within a supportive environment. You could be assisting a busy operational, technical or corporate team, be part of the HR department, or working alongside senior staff supporting them to manage a busy schedule. You’ll be the go-to person within your team, and your contribution will keep critical activity on track. You’ll take on real business challenges while learning with the support of your team. Successful candidates will perform highly in the competency areas of Working Collaboratively, Communicating and Influencing and Delivering Outcomes.
On completing the pathway, you’ll have a variety of opportunities open to you. You may want to specialise in a corporate profession and gain industry-recognised qualifications or apply for a role in one of our many locations overseas (there are opportunities to work overseas after 3 years). Whatever you choose, this role offers you the opportunity to carve a career path unique to you, while building on your strengths and learning valuable new skills.
MI6 is proud to have achieved Leader status within the DWP’s Disability Confident scheme. As a Disability Confident Leader, we aim to ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants who best meet the essential minimum criteria for this position, will be offered an interview, if it is practical for us to do so. (This is known as Offer of an Interview.) To secure an interview for this role, the minimum criteria (in order of application process) are:
