JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Systems Analysis Specialist to join TBSM (Treasury & Balance Sheet Management) Technology. This role will be responsible for leading the analysis, design, and implementation of technology solutions that support the Front Office Investments and Analytics business functions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, including proficiency in SQL, combined with deep business acumen within the Capital Markets or Finance domain. You will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs, translate them into technical requirements, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the development, delivery and/or support of products and services for a range of clients to support them in meeting business objectives/goals
  • Support/Participate in developing the strategic direction of own area
  • Work with both TBSM and external business & technology partners to prepare comprehensive technology solutions that meet/exceed client objectives for new and existing systems/applications
  • Manage the integration of all systems, projects and technical interfaces to ensure a high level of service and support to the client and efficient system operation
  • Research and innovate – may make decisions to build/buy/reuse system components to meet client expectations and project deliverables
  • Measure and monitor the level of service, analyze trends, agree on service target levels, and determine appropriate actions
  • Comply with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC) – including development of project plans, documentation of system requirements, estimates of scope and cost, et cetera
  • May conduct/oversee planning with internal clients, prioritize activities and allocate resources consistent with business strategy and objectives
  • Negotiate and document project deliverables, timelines, project charters/costing, roles, responsibilities and critical milestones
  • Ensure operational, reputational, and proprietary risks are minimized and focus on process improvement
  • Support/Develop sound business cases with an on-going focus on reusability, scalability, innovation, and enterprise-wide solutions
  • Ensure all testing, quality assurance and post-implementation reviews are conducted against critical success factors, per the project plan and objectives
  • Continuously improve timeliness of delivery while balancing quality and price of solutions/services offered
  • Follow process management discipline for change management of all systems managed
  • Ensure compliance with IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and the department’s Business Recovery Plan (BRP)
  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with industry and/or business trends
  • Manage vendor relationships; ensure timely/accurate communication and resolution of issues
  • Act as an integrator of solutions, provide flexibility, and ensure a good understanding of technology choices by offering and negotiating options with the clients
  • Communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met
  • May act as an expert consultant/resource in system strategy, architecture and design
  • Provide insight, information and recommendations on industry trends and significant issues
  • Promote and support an environment that encourages productivity, innovation, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism
  • Contribute to the management team by sharing knowledge/expertise and contributing to sound decisions
  • Participate in knowledge transfer – ensure timely and accurate communication of business objectives throughout the group and articulate the group mandate to other areas
  • Work effectively as a team, supporting other members of the team in achieving business objectives and providing client services
  • Foster a cohesive team environment within own team and across IT as a whole

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Graduate degree preferred is an asset
  • 7+ years relevant experience
  • Experience working in Agile
  • 5+ years of experience in systems analysis within the Capital Markets and/or Finance
  • Strong understanding of financial transaction processing, data governance, and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency in SQL and an understanding of database best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing complex systems solutions with a focus on operational efficiency and cost savings
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies for project management and iterative development
  • Familiarity with application security standards (e.g., OAuth 2.0, REST APIs) is an asset
