DIVISION OVERVIEW

The Clinical & Revenue Cycle IT (CRC) Division of Health Information Technology Clinical Documentation Team at Michigan Medicine is seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of Business Analyst Senior / Intermediate. The Senior / Intermediate Business Analyst is a pivotal role, responsible for leveraging both Epic system configuration expertise and regulatory compliance knowledge to enhance clinical systems and support patient care delivery. This position requires a unique blend of skills in clinical information systems, regulatory reporting, and project management to effectively meet the strategic goals of the organization.

JOB SUMMARY

Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays a role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with technology-related information, products, and support. HITS also provides institutional expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and resource management.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AND KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT:

  • Remain up to date with CMS proposed rules and new regulations that may affect the Epic system or regulatory reporting practices.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to identify and validate required measures, ensuring compliance with evolving healthcare regulations.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a clinical area, Health Informatics, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare compliance regulations, including familiarity with Joint Commission standards recommended.
  • Experience with application build in a clinical application preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare workflows.
  • In-depth understanding of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements and guidelines.
  • Understanding HIPAA regulations and data security best practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clinical staff, IT teams, and stakeholders.
