River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Systems Manager is a hands-on and strategic member of the IT Team who leads the planning, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of our key business systems—including ERP, WMS, EDI and other integrated platforms. This role will act as the bridge between technology and business operations, ensuring our applications are aligned with company goals and delivering maximum value.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in IT or systems-related roles, with at least 2+ years focused on business applications or enterprise systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP, WMS, EDI, and eCommerce systems; experience with integrations between them is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage stakeholders across departments.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and technical consultants.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a business-process mindset.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL, APIs, or basic data structures is a plus.
  • Excellent project management skills including budget forecasting and timelines

Responsibilities
  • Own the full lifecycle of business-critical applications: selection, configuration, implementation, integration, upgrades, and user support.
  • Lead cross-functional projects involving systems rollouts, enhancements, or integrations—including ERP, WMS, EDI, and eCommerce platforms.
  • Manage all aspects of company EDI including developing mappings and integrations, onboarding new trading partners and monitoring and troubleshooting daily transaction flows.
  • Strong focus on project management concepts including scoping, coordination among internal and external teams, maintain project timelines and milestones and communicating to all stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and plan new system implementations or upgrades, including selection of the system, budgeting, project management, testing, training and implementation.
  • Partner with department heads to understand business needs and recommend system-based solutions.
  • Manage relationships with software vendors, consultants, and integration partners.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across integrated systems (including between back-end and front-end eCommerce components).
  • Develop and maintain API connections between both cloud and on-premise systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on system processes, data flows, and configuration.
  • Monitor system performance and technology utilization; identify areas for improvement or automation.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies relevant to the business, especially those affecting eCommerce, supply chain, and customer-facing integrations.
