Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY:

The BU Quality Lead for Data Centres is responsible for leading and managing all quality assurance and quality control activities within the Business Unit, ensuring that data centre projects meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and compliance. This role oversees the implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001:2015, client specifications, and industry best practices specific to mission-critical infrastructure. The BU Quality Lead collaborates closely with project teams, engineering, construction, commissioning, and supply chain functions to embed a culture of quality throughout the project lifecycle—from design and procurement to installation and handover. Key responsibilities include managing audits, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions, supporting tender and startup phases with quality input, and ensuring documentation and record control processes are robust and compliant. The role also acts as the primary quality interface with clients and stakeholders, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded across all data centre projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Lead the management, implementation, and continuous maintenance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Mercury QMS by ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, while driving process improvements, conducting internal audits, facilitating staff training, and ensuring documentation and compliance are consistently upheld across all operational areas.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network throughout the business Unit and its cross-functions, communicating widely and appropriately, to build a positive Quality culture.
  • Develop specific ‘Contingency/Improvement/Action/Leadership Plans’ to address new and emerging opportunities and risks
  • Responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering training programs for internal teams and supply chain partners to ensure operational excellence and compliance.
  • Support staff during the onboarding process by providing guidance on quality procedures, tools, and systems, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and resources to perform their roles effectively, while fostering a smooth integration into project workflows and promoting a culture of quality from day one.
  • Collaborate with the client to ensure their quality standards and procedures are submitted, approved, and implemented within the agreed timelines.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and client-specific requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to management on quality matters to ensure compliance with standards and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that all quality-related aspects of the project startup are thoroughly planned, reviewed, and executed in alignment with client requirements, regulatory standards, and internal procedures, including the establishment of quality controls, documentation systems, and risk mitigation measures to support a successful project launch.
  • Provide comprehensive quality-related input during the project tender phase by reviewing client specifications, identifying potential risks and compliance requirements, proposing quality strategies and resource needs, and ensuring that all quality commitments are clearly defined and aligned with both internal standards and customer expectations.
  • Manage the end-to-end document and record handover process by ensuring that all project documentation, quality records, and compliance-related files are accurately compiled, reviewed, and transferred to the client or relevant stakeholders in accordance with contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and internal procedures, while maintaining traceability, version control, and proper archiving protocols.
  • Coordinate and lead regular meetings with the client, Quality team, Operations team, and other key project stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives, address quality-related concerns, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and drive timely decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and coordinate with the supply chain from a quality standpoint by ensuring that suppliers meet defined quality standards, participating in supplier evaluations and audits, addressing non-conformances, and supporting the implementation of corrective actions to maintain compliance with project requirements and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate offsite audits, factory visits, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) from a quality perspective by planning and executing audit programs in alignment with ISO 9001 and applicable regional standards, ensuring supplier facilities and deliverables meet contractual and regulatory quality requirements, identifying and addressing non-conformities, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.
  • Oversee the document control process by establishing and maintaining systems for the creation, review, approval, distribution, and archiving of project documentation to ensure accuracy, version control, regulatory compliance, and timely accessibility for all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Responsible for analysing non-conformances and actively contributing to the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with quality standards.
  • Identify the need for changes through Quality innovations, lessons learned and legislative updates to the ‘Quality Management System’ and the delivery of quality on sites.
  • Utilise software management systems such as SAP, Eida, Procore, ACC and BIM 360 to efficiently execute quality-related duties, including documentation control, issue tracking, inspection management, and project coordination, ensuring data accuracy, real-time collaboration, and compliance with project and organizational standards.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on significant project events or issues when necessary, ensuring that findings are clearly documented and communicated to all relevant project personnel, while also developing, implementing, and tracking Corrective Actions (CA) to prevent recurrence and support continuous improvement across project operations.
  • Work closely with the commissioning team to support the planning, execution, and documentation of commissioning activities by ensuring quality requirements are met, assisting with inspections and testing, verifying compliance with project specifications, and facilitating the resolution of quality-related issues during the commissioning phase.
