JOB OVERVIEW:

The Busser/Dishwasher plays a vital role in keeping the dining room, kitchen, and staff areas clean, organized, and running smoothly. This position supports both the Front of House and Back of House teams by clearing tables quickly, ensuring dishes and utensils are sanitized, and maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for guests and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Previous restaurant, janitorial, or cleaning experience is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods during shifts.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:FRONT OF HOUSE (BUSSER DUTIES):

  • Clear and reset tables promptly and efficiently.
  • Assist servers by refilling water, bringing extra utensils, and delivering food when needed.
  • Ensure dining areas remain clean, tidy, and presentable throughout service.
  • Support the overall flow of service by communicating with servers and hosts.

BACK OF HOUSE (DISHWASHER DUTIES):

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to health and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing area, including sinks, dish machines, and floors.
  • Assist kitchen staff with organizing clean dishware and utensils.
  • Take out garbage, recycling, and kitchen waste as needed.
  • Maintain guest and staff areas when required, including:
  • Cleaning and restocking guest washrooms.
  • Sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing floors in guest and staff spaces.
  • Keeping staff break areas, storage rooms, and hallways clean.
  • Emptying and sanitizing trash bins in guest and staff areas.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Follow all restaurant health and safety policies.
  • Work efficiently during peak hours and maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management.
  • Support team members with other cleaning or prep tasks when required.
