Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Butcher to support the daily operations of our meat department. This position focuses on meat cutting, customer service, and ensuring a clean and well-organized department. The ideal candidate will play an essential role in preparing high-quality meat products, maintaining inventory, and assisting customers with their needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Meat Cutting & Processing:
Expertly process and cut meat, including breaking down lamb and pork carcasses, further processing beef sub-primals, and deboning chicken.
Prepare meat for packaging, ensuring it meets quality and presentation standards.
Maintain appropriate levels of fresh meat at the service counter and in display cases.
Customer Service:
Serve customers efficiently and courteously, addressing inquiries and providing recommendations on meat cuts and products.
Take and fulfill customer orders accurately, ensuring proper packaging and invoicing.
Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while handling customer requests and
resolving any concerns.
Inventory Management:
Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating meat products to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to the supervisor.
Ensure all products are labeled and priced correctly according to company standards.
Sanitation & Safety:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cutting room, coolers, freezers, and service areas.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring compliance with health
regulations.
Follow proper procedures for handling and processing meat products.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with packaging and merchandising meat for display.
Support seasonal and promotional displays by arranging products attractively.
Communicate operational needs and customer feedback to the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the department.
Qualifications:
Certification as a butcher or meat cutter, or relevant experience in meat processing (1-2
years preferred).
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to a fast-paced retail setting.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and operate
cutting tools safely.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.20-$26.36 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 24 per week
