JOB DESCRIPTION

The Buyer Assistant will be responsible for maintaining procurement records according to corporate guidelines, discussing defective or unacceptable materials or service levels with users, suppliers, and others to determine root cause and corrective action, resolving payment issues, collaborating with internal customers to develop business requirements and improve processes, soliciting quotes, and supporting supplier and commodity strategies to support plant procurement and manufacturing operations. The role also involves participating in technical reviews with suppliers and internal teams, with potential travel to supplier facilities and plant manufacturing locations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of automotive prototype commodities and services.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to quickly analyze data and present conclusions.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus, with Procurement or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Procurement experience is a plus, with a preference for experience in the automotive industry.
  • Research skills.
  • Financial analysis experience preferred.
  • Proactive and self-starter.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
