Job Title: Buyer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Buyer to join our dynamic team in a fast-growing company with numerous projects that promise to increase volumes and revenue. Responsibilities Directly procure raw materials and develop an appropriate supplier base by determining material requirements and developing rolling supplier schedules or Purchase Orders. Consolidate requirements and develop the most suitable method of purchase, such as spot purchase orders, contracts, blanket orders, and supplier stocking arrangements. Issue schedules to suppliers on a rolling basis and establish delivery priorities. Maintain close contact with suppliers and resolve any issues or conflicts. Prepare data to showcase supplier performance, issues, and improvement actions. Advise management of current market conditions and supplier base activity that could affect pricing and delivery. Familiarize with the end-use of commodities to identify possible cost savings through alternate materials or specifications. Evaluate suppliers through methods such as supplier visitation and objective performance measurements, including on-time delivery, service performance, and price performance. Provide purchasing support for ordering maintenance and expense items. Represent the Purchasing Department in business systems and analyze the present purchasing system. Analyze and maintain minimum inventory levels and act on slow-moving and obsolete inventory. Collaborate with the QA Manager on purchasing department issues relating to the ISO 9000 registration process. Attend production meetings as requested. Travel domestically and possibly internationally as required. Perform all other duties assigned by the Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager. Essential Skills 2-3 years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience (5 years without a college degree). 2-3 years of ERP/MRP systems experience, preferably SAP. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SAP. Inventory Management experience. College education. Exposure to ordering products from overseas suppliers. Knowledge of WPG raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost optimization techniques. Work Environment This position is 100% onsite, operating Monday to Friday from 7am to 3:30pm, with flexibility to start or leave up to 60 minutes early. The work environment is a modern and professional office space with an open floor plan, featuring cubicles and stand-up desks. The team consists of eight people, including three in this exact position, and the office space is updated and conducive to collaboration. The role involves interaction with various departments including Customer Service, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Sales, and Operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
