THE ROLE & THE TEAM The Zalando Beauty Buying Team is responsible for curating and sourcing all beauty, wellness, and personal care products offered on the Zalando platform. By focusing on deep market expertise and strategic brand partnerships, we ensure an optimal and up-to-date assortment to meet our customers' diverse needs, driving the ambitious growth of our beauty program. As a Buyer in Beauty- Skincare, you will be a key expert and strategic contributor responsible for managing and growing one of our most complex or high-potential skincare beauty sub-categories (e.g. Korean, Premium and Hot on Social Brands). You will own the full buying cycle, from scouting and negotiating complex brand partnerships to forecasting and in-season optimization to maximize sales and margin targets. One of your main tasks is hunting and negotiating terms for new Skincare brands to complement the unit. You will also act as a mentor, coaching junior buyers in best practices for assortment planning, operational excellence, and brand (re-)negotiation, setting a high standard for your category. This includes determining the creative and commercial direction of your assortment. Identifying emerging skincare trends, sourcing new, strategic brands, and negotiating the best terms for Zalando. Together with Merchandising, you'll be responsible for defining your key skincare brands' seasonal strategy and beyond, including budget and assortment planning, whilst consulting the unit owner and strategically important stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Supply Chain). Executing in-season monitoring and rigorously reviewing the performance of your brands and products, making prompt recommendations and taking decisive action based on valid, data-driven insights. Maintaining and developing excellent relationships with our external brand partners, always challenging and evolving the business to support the Category and Zalando strategy. You will collaborate closely with brand partners to improve integration, drive joint commercial plans, and deliver on your brand and assortment strategy. WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business or comparable field. Minimum 4 years of buying experience in a Head Office environment or within an e-commerce retailer in Beauty. Excellent analytical skills, knowledge in Google Suite, MS Office (especially Excel and formulas) and combining the passion for numbers with Beauty and trends. Proven track record of new business acquisitions and incentives that deliver results. Negotiation is in your blood, and you are a strong communicator with suppliers and other stakeholders.
