Job DescriptionPosition: Buyer – Commercial Components & Manufacturing Parts(Fere)Reporting To Head of PurchasingAddress: Karl-Benz-Strasse 10, 40764 Langenfeld.Job PurposeThe Buyer is responsible for sourcing, supplier selection, commercial negotiations, purchase order management, and supplier performance monitoring for commercial components and manufacturing parts. The role ensures cost competitiveness, on-time delivery, quality compliance, and supply continuity while supporting business and production requirements.
- Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier DevelopmentIdentify, evaluate, and develop qualified suppliers for commercial components and manufacturing parts.
- Define the strategy of main material groups and deploy long-term cooperation w. key suppliers.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, new technologies, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Lead supplier qualification and onboarding activities in collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Maintain and continuously improve the approved supplier base.
- Drive dual-sourcing and risk mitigation strategies for critical components.
- 2. Supplier Negotiation & Contract ManagementLead commercial negotiations covering:
- Pricing
- Payment terms
- Delivery conditions
- Warranty and service agreements
- Long-term supply contracts
- Achieve cost reduction and savings targets.
- Establish framework agreements and commercial contracts with key suppliers.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and procurement procedures.
- 3. Purchase Order ManagementConvert approved purchase requisitions into purchase orders.
- Manage the complete P2P (Procure-to-Pay) process from sourcing through order placement and delivery.
- Ensure timely order placement based on project schedules and production requirements.
- Monitor order confirmations and maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP systems.
- Resolve order discrepancies, delivery issues, and invoice-related matters.
- 4. Supplier Performance & Delivery ManagementMonitor supplier performance regarding:
- Quality
- Cost
- Delivery
- Responsiveness
- Work with suppliers to improve delivery reliability and overall service performance.
- Support escalation management for supply shortages, quality concerns, and urgent procurement requirements.
- Conduct regular supplier reviews and performance evaluations.
- 5. Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate closely with internal cross-functional colleagues
- Support new product introductions and project procurement activities.
- Ensure supply availability while balancing inventory and working capital objectives.
- 6. Cost & Risk ManagementAnalyze cost structures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Track commodity market trends and supplier capacity risks.
- Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions.
- QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree or above in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience3+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or procurement experience in manufacturing industries as a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems.
