JOB VACANCY – BUYER (COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT)

• Location – Monkspath, Solihull
• 40 Hours per Week – Monday to Friday (8.30 – 5.30)
• Starting Salary: £34,000-£38,000

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Robust understanding of the FMCG commercial market.
• Aptitude for building and maintaining relationships.
• Confident with numbers, particularly using Excel.
• Self-motivated and driven.
• Adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
• Skilled in problem-solving and negotiation.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Solid academic background, including GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade B or higher. A degree (2:1 or higher) is a plus but not essential.

Farmfoods is a successful, independent retailer specialising in frozen food. We are renowned for excellent quality and great value, without compromise. There are over 340 Farmfoods shops in the UK and 4 distribution centres with a Commercial Office based in Monkspath, Solihull.
The office is home to many of the company’s Directors and Senior Management Team so the successful candidate must be comfortable and confident dealing with people at all levels of seniority along with external stakeholders such as suppliers and customers. A “can do” attitude is essential

• Oversee and manage product categories, focusing on growth and a balanced commercial strategy.
• Build and nurture strong business relationships with suppliers – from local family-run businesses to global FMCG brands.
• Negotiate supplier trading terms, JBPs and marketing plans.
• Conduct range reviews and develop pricing and promotional strategies.
• Coordinate order placements in alignment with demand and supplier agreements.
• Admin tasks such as setting up new lines, stock transfers and fielding calls.
  What We’re Looking For: You’re organised, have an eye for detail, and can communicate effectively. Working under pressure is second nature to you, and you always meet set deadlines. A positive and proactive approach is integral to how you work. You’re adept at liaising with colleagues, suppliers, and management of all levels.
